Born in Texas as the world was emerging from WWII, Diana grew up in Texas, California, and England. She moved to the Northwest in the 1980s, which is her true American home.

 

Completing a Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. in Child Welfare, Dr. Diana English spent much of her professional career conducting research on child welfare issues such as the impact of child abuse and neglect on children’s growth and development. She worked in both local and national public and private agencies with a focus on protecting children and strengthening families. With over 90 publications on child abuse and neglect, Dr. English is considered a national expert on child maltreatment.

 

Upon retirement Diana turned her attention to writing literary non-fiction, sharing stories from her early childhood experiences. Her essay Saying Goodbye to Someone I Love was featured in The Avalon Literary Review and her my debut memoir, The Well of Sorrow launches in April 2025. Dr. Diana English lives in Seattle, Washington.
